Share Your Best Recipe Contest Winners
After three years of tweeting, it still feels a bit like standing on the street corner and shouting short, witty bon mots to the world. Let’s just say It’s not my preferred form of communication. But I’ve finally figured out the best use for it. Last weekend, I was making a rather important dinner party. I had chosen a relatively straightforward recipe (yes, I’m the girl who tests recipes for the FIRST TIME on unsuspecting dinner guests) and I was trying to make the entire thing ahead because once guests arrive, I’m too distracted to cook. The recipe looked easy but elegant, Beef Tenderloin with Mushroom Ragout by Food Network star and cookbook author, Tyler Florence. The tenderloin was no problem: sear it and throw it in the oven. And the ragout was almost too simple, but I was concerned about whether I could cook the mushrooms ahead. And I didn’t feel like testing them out to see. So, I tweeted Tyler Florence and asked him. Within ten minutes, he tweeted me back. No, he said, the mushrooms would look dead, but to make them anyway because they take five minutes to cook and are delicious. Which they were.
