Old Lyme’s Midsummer Festival

There’s exactly one response when I say I live in Lyme and it never varies: “oh, it’s so beautiful there!”. That, it is. And quiet. Not exactly a party town, but once a year we throw caution to the wind and head to Lyme Street for the Midsummer Festival. This summer’s line-up is better than ever: Friday night’s free concert on the banks of the Lieutenant River features The Wolverine Jazz Band and the River Tavern Food Truck; Saturday, visit the Market En Plein Air and the Artisan Fair (including the elusive Billie Beads) at the Flo Gris, stop for off-the-hook face painting and glitter tattoos by “Z”; check out the art book sale at the Lyme Academy, watch five Shoreline Chefs battle it out using market ingredients, take a cupcake break at the Take a Brake Bakery Truck and DON’T miss Silver Hammer, local teen band phenoms. Phew. And so much more, click here for the full list of events.
