New Haven Symphony: 12/7, 7:30pm: Britten’s St. Nicolas and Ceremony of Carols at the First Congregational Church of Madison.
A Christmas Carol, 12/14, 7pm: A dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ classic by Professional Storyteller, Jennifer Munroe at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society in Madison.
The Magic of Christmas at the Florence Griswold Museum, 12/6/13 – 1/5/14: Miss Florence’s Artist Tree features 140 palettes donated by artists, enjoy Christmastime Teas, Hands-on Fun and holiday ornaments and festive gifts in the Museum Shop
Artistry at Guilford Art Center, 11/1/13 – 1/5/14: Share the joy of handcrafted objects with everyone on your list: pottery, glass, jewelry, clothing and more. Opening reception 11/1/13.

Holiday Tree Lighting on the Guilford Green, 12/6, 6pm
Old Saybrook Winter Stroll, 12/6, 5 – 8pm: Stroll along Main Street with caroling, Santa visits, live entertainment and special events in the shops.
Chester Holiday Night, 12/6: Tree Lighting, Sing-along, and events and receptions in shops and galleries
Eastern CT Ballet’s The Nutcracker at The Garde, 12/14 and 12/15
Wesleyan Potters 58th Annual Studio Sale, 11/29 – 12/15: A display of pottery, jewelry, weaving, and more, the work of over 200 juried artists and members.
Gallery19’s “Winter Wonders”: A new contemporary gallery in Essex showcases over two dozen Connecticut artists and artisans: paintings, unique prints, weavings, bags, photography, collages, sculptures, encaustics, a flock of paper birds and more original fine art. Opening reception November 30 from 3 to 5 pm, egular hours Wednesday thru Sunday from 11-5 pm, at gallery19, 19A Main St., Essex, CT
5th Annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza at the Chester Meeting House, Friday, 12/6, from 5 – 9pm. A festive shopping event with over 25 booths of local vendors and products.
Hill Stead Museum Holidays: Holiday Boutique on 12/7 and 12/8, and An American Collector’s Christmas
Mystic Seaport Lantern Light Tours: Step back in time to Christmas Eve 1876 and meet the residents of the quaint village of Greenmanville. Both young and old will enjoy seasonal delights that include a traditional tavern dance, a horse-drawn carriage ride and the beautiful glow of hundreds of lanterns that light the way.
Essex Holiday House Tour, 12/7
House Tour: Essex Village ~ 10 am to 4 pm. Join us on Saturday, December 7th, for a festive self-guided walking tour featuring seven Essex village homes – from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries – all beautifully decorated for the holidays. The Essex Historical Society’s Pratt House and the Connecticut River Museum are also part of this tour in the heart of Essex. Boutique: Essex Town Hall ~ 9:30 am to 5 pm, Come shop for all your holiday gift-giving needs-unique gifts of handcrafted jewelry, beautiful table linens, festive clothing, whimsical holiday arrangements…and more. Free admission to one-stop shopping, with a cafe included.

Christmas Torchlight Parade, Old Saybrook, 12/14
The Kate, Old Saybrook, A Christmas Carol, Snow White’s Christmas and Cappella Cantorum’s Sing Along Messiah.
Sparkle, a Holiday Boutique at Lyman Allyn Museum, 12/6 and 12/7
The 45th Annual Celebration of American Crafts at Creative Arts Workshop, New Haven, 11/2 – 12/24/13: Over 300 artists from across America are featured, representing the finest in glass, ceramics, jewelry, wearable and decorative fiber, handcrafted furniture and much more.
The Cooley Gallery launches its holiday exhibition, “ALL PAINTINGS GREAT AND SMALL.” The show begins on November 21st with an opening reception from 5-8 p.m and runs through January 11, 2014.
Ivoryton Illumination, 11/30, 5pm-8pm, Over 200,000 lights, tri-town home decorating contest, carol singing and visits with Santa.
Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts’ annual Student Holiday Art Show and Sale opens with a festive reception at the College’s Sill House Gallery on Friday, 12/6, from 5 – 8pm. The show will comprise a selection of original works by student artists from the College. All proceeds benefit the student artist directly. The sale continues through Saturday, 12/14. Sill House Gallery hours are Monday – Saturday from 10am – 4pm. All are welcome and admission is free. A Christmas Carol, Saturday, 12/14, 7pm: National storyteller, Jennifer Munro will bring the spirit of Christmas alive with a dramatic reading of A Christmas Carol at the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society in Madison. $15 Advance, $18 door. Call 203.245.8720 for tickets.
